Bright Stars Martin, Pal signs for Korean Team Ulsan Citizen’s Club

“We believe we came to the right place for us to really be prepared to get to the top, I hope 2021 will be a year full of success and hopefully it will be the start of the way to the top and Europe because that is our dream.”

Martin Dominic and Pal Paul have started the new year with hopes of a promising future in their football careers as they look forward to take a new challenge in their new club, the Ulsan Citizen’s Club.

The duo signed a 2-year Contract on 30th December last year and vow to a name in the South Korea football leagues history, thanks to South Korean coach Lim Hung Si who has been sponsoring young players for almost a decade now.

Martin left a big footprint in Goyang fc, where he started his football career in South Korea. He scored 19 goals and six assists in 35 games and was recognized by the coaches and teammates as one of the greatest talents the club has ever had. In 2019 Martin became the Goyang FC’s fans player of the year.

Last year Martin and Pal, who at the time both played for Yangju fc which was competing with the national league teams in the 3rd division. It’s the closest league to the top professional league in the country.

“So, we definitely knew it was a great opportunity for us to show our ability among competitive teams in order to go higher, but it turned out to be a very challenging year for us because of not getting a lot of minutes of playing due to a lot reasons one of them was changing of coaches in the team.” Martin says.

But despite these challenges Martin managed to score 4 goals in 15 games. Pal too struggled as he played only 5 games in 2020.

“I’m so excited and happy to sign a new contract. I have already learned a lot and the way of play in Korea. So, I think I will have less problems next season and I’m confident that I will have lots of minutes to play in 2021.” Pal Paul told The Insider.

“Thank God Ulsan Citizen fc, the team that was really interested in signing us since last year managed to be promoted to the same league as Yangju. So we moved to Ulsan and we signed 2 years contract, and I really want to thank our sponsors from Scelido, our agent and Mr. Lim, our Korean father for the continuous support, not forgetting our families and friends and most importantly the Ulsan H. Coach Mr Yoon Kyun Sang for the trust.” Martin says.

“We believe we came to the right place for us to really be prepared to get to the top, I hope 2021 will be a year full of success and hopefully it will be the start of the way to the top and Europe because that is our dream.” he added encouraging young footballers in South Sudan to keep believing and dreaming about create careers in football and to work hard to get the opportunities when they arise.

“I know we still lack a lot but I believe we got the talent, try to improve yourselves by training the basics and improving your physical conditions. Always stay positive and have the mind set of learning something new every single day.” Martin Advised.

Martin and Pal are one of the successful beneficiaries of the South Korean Mission in South Sudan’s project for youth football development undertaken by Coach Lim Hung Si.

Coach Lim takes young players between the ages of 12 and 17 every year to train and play youth tournaments in South Korea.
