Ignorance Might Cost More On COVID-19 Fight.

Ignorance from ages ago has always been said to not have defense for at the end its cost is more and unfortunately more often than not innocent people fall for the victim for mistakes done ignorantly by others. Consider this
In awe for the government to curb the spread of Corona Virus (COVID 19) disease it introduced some measures to help in curbing the spread of the disease. Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe , arguing Kenyans to obey them by pointing with apprehension that, the disease is a grave matter. “If we continue treating this pandemic normally it will treat us abnormally”, Mutahi noted. Injunctions were made and including cessation movement from hotbed of the virus but this has been reduced to cat and mouse games by ignorant Kenyans to beat the curfew hours and cessation of movement order.
It was hilarious to many when during one of the pressers when the CS Kagwe noted that there were people who were using ambulances to attend parties, it did sound unreal and far wild thought in fact many may have termed it as close to impossibility considering the sanctity of the tool in use ambulance. However even before the dust could settle on the issue, everyone was taken awe by the manager who works in an emergency evacuation services ordered that her child in a group of others be brought home after getting drunk and being beaten by curfew hours.
That’s not all two people, drove all the way from Kenya’s capital Nairobi to Homabay carrying a coffin in disguise of attending a funeral and to beat it movement cease order. Call sheer ignorance it. Salt to an ulcer after getting held by law enforcement agencies one of them tested positive to COVID 19. Do your math and guess how many people he got into contact with.
Day two of movement cessation there emerged videos showing again people going through horrible experiences just to enter to Nairobi. You may ask again who these measures are for again. There has been other routes that people are using long but they are out there to prove to the government that they can run away from them. However the whole issue could have been for the general good but it had its fair share of shortcoming. A friend told me that it doesn’t matter whether you have a reason to enter the enclosed area or not so long as you know someone or at least you can ‘cough life’ into the pockets of the seniors. True to his words three days after the movement order he was in Nairobi.
With the now new move on measures to tighten the orders by having everyone who is caught at the wrong side of the law during the mentioned hours goes into a forced quarantine with assumption that they were into contact with infected people could be the flavor that has been missing in the orders. This will help reduce incidences of people partying in their houses. With a recent incident implicating a Member of County Assembly Nyeri in a drinking escapade with his buddies, this are the same people who are the same mandated to educate the masses.
However the punishment should be reevaluated, giving a bond of twenty thousand Kenyan shillings and an hour to educate masses per week could not help much especially on the so called ‘big’ people with influence and think that they are above the law punishing them could be a perfect picture that the government is not biased on its efforts.
No one wants to stay indoors; no one wants to have a boring life by avoiding partying or social distancing with their loved ones. We all want to travel and arrive home at the wee hours of the night to our houses but if social distancing, curfew and cessation of movement will help so be it. Let’s learn to respect the directives given by the authorities it’s for our own good.
Let’s stay safe. The world won’t be dull forever. The warmth will be back in due time but only if we obey.
