Where You Might Be
Wherever you go and whenever you might be I hope this reaches you. And when your name comes across my mind, even if it doesn’t come across my lips, in conversation that has diminished. It doesn’t mean you are not still in my heart. I hope you find the kind of love we used to talk about and someone to value your heart and value you for all you are. I hope she is someone your mum will get along with and laugh with. Someone your father can talk to about business and the news and your siblings like. Wherever you might be, I hope you are happy and not some false version of what we thought happiness should be or chasing after some goal and dream we used to think would fulfil the empty parts of us.
Wherever you might be, I hope you have it figured out a little more and your heart is at peace. I hope that wherever life might take you in your career, it is in working with people who do not take advantage of your goodness or work ethic. I hope every bit of success finds its way to your doorstep because I will always be your number one silent fan and of your life like a compass that was never going to steer you wrong, even if that honesty led to my heartbreak. Your honesty among many other things was one of the reasons my heart stepped into the kind of love I was not even expecting. Maybe I simply got lost in the translation of it.
Whenever you might be, I hope you still find yourself buried in pages of books like the ones you used to recommend for me of stories about others that inspired us to be our better selves. Sometimes I wonder what you are currently reading and if I would enjoy it. Wherever you might be right now, I hope this reaches you and you know from the bottom of my heart although my life has shifted a bit. It is so fondly I look back at our chapter I desperately wanted to be the whole story. It is with gratitude that I had the chance to know you and to love you.
Wherever you might be, I hope you fall in love with someone who makes an effort that stretches far and beyond poetic words or passive convenience. Someone who genuinely fills your life with wonder and foundation and kind of hope that spills out of you and into everything you do. Fall in love with someone who teaches you that love can be rediscovered, reimagined, transformed into something that is honest and gracious and so for you that it feels like it was knit into your every cell before you even met them. Someone who makes you want to be vulnerable, someone who shows you that it is okay to have faith in someone.,
I hope this reaches you wherever you are and you remember it and the ya that we used to be
